Where does the name “Dawnings” come from?
In the summer of 1969, at the age of 17, our founder, Cheryl found herself pregnant.
She was alone, and scared. After marrying the father of her child, on December 25, 1969, Christmas Day, Dawn Marie was born at 26 weeks. She lived for 48 hours and died of respiratory arrest syndrome.
In a ten year period, Cheryl went on to get pregnant seven more times by her first husband. Aaron was born in 1973, Nathan was adopted from Vietnam in 1974, Jacob was born and died in 1974, a miscarriage complicated by a cardiac arrest in 1975, another miscarriage complicated by mononucleosis in 1976, the birth of Simeon in 1977, the birth of Eben in 1979, and her eighth pregnancy ending in an abortion on demand in 1981.
Today Cheryl is happily married to her second husband, Bill, for 18 years. They are the proud parents of a blended family consisting of five boys and one girl ranging in ages from 31 years to 41 years. All six married children have wonderful loving spouses and babies of their own.
Three birth children, one adopted, two stepchildren and soon to be a total of 11 grandchildren is her legacy.

“Dawnings”.
It is her passion, as well as every member of our staff, that no young woman or young man will face a crisis pregnancy alone!
Isaiah 58:8-11, "Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. “Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
